Statista -- Trial Database

Trial Database for our evaluation. We have added Statista to the top of the database list on the Library homepage and Full list of Library Databases.

Statista is a multidisciplinary and holistic database that aggregates information on over 80,000 topics from more than 18,000 sources on a single professional platform. It provides the academic community direct access to qualitative and quantitative data on media, business, finance, politics, and a variety of other areas of interest including current events. All information is prepared and checked by a Statista research team of more than 80 analysts. The database contains over 15,000 studies, industry reports, 2,500 dossiers and infographics. It provides forecasting on over 500 industries, 40 economies over a period of five years exclusive and proprietary Digital Market Outlook created by their analyst team. All statistics can be directly downloaded in PNG, Excel, and PowerPoint formats, and is prepared according to academic citation standards.

Beating the Drums for Justice! Language and the Law:
A Poet and Performer's Journey

Guest Speaker: George Higgins

George Higgins is an Oakland poet and actor. His first book There, There was
published by White Violet Press. His poems have appeared in Best
American Poetry, Pleiades, Nimrod, Poetry Flash, Salamander and Fugue,
among others. He has an MFA from Warren Wilson College where he was
a Holden Fellow. He is also a Cave Canem Fellow. He performs completely
improvised one act plays with the improv troupe the (i)ncidentalists.

1:15 - 2:15 pm in Library Study Room: A poetry reading and discussion of the
power and purpose of language in pursuit of justice with George Higgins,
Lawyer, Poet, Performer.

2:30 - 3:30 pm in Library Study Room: Discussion of George Higgins’ legal
work and its relationship to Just Mercy.

3:45 - 4:45 pm in the Theater: Writing and improv activities led by
George Higgins. Participants will learn about creating performative poems
and other work related to justice causes in our communities and on our
campus, including recent discussions and events regarding student equity
and immigration.
